backpacking tent

This past autumn, I had the chance to go on a backpacking trip with a few friends. We toured one of the smaller canyons in northern Arizona for several days. It was a great trip: sunny weather, beautiful scenery, and good friends. Although I love to go hiking, and have gone on many traditional camping trips, this was my first experience with a backpacking tent. When I was invited to go, one of my first questions was about the camping gear. I wanted to know what everyone was supposed to bring, if we were sharing a tent, etc. That was when I learned that it was going to be a backpacking trip, so everyone would be responsible for their own supplies, including a tent. I went online to look for a backpacking tent, since I didn't yet own one. To tell the truth, I considered the idea a little dubious. I just didn't see how a tent could fold up small enough to fit a backpack. Once I received my backpacking tent, though, my fears were allayed. It was strong and durable, but folded up into an incredibly small and lightweight package. Now, my backpacking tent is my favorite piece of camping gear!
